Taking two positions on the same market, combines stops

    Hi there,

If I use an ATM to place an order, let say long. Then I decide to scale in and take another long contract. When the second long contract is filled, instead of the stop being at the depicted tick distance in the ATM, it is combined automatically with the existigng stop in the first filled order.

Is there a way for this to stop happening? I want the stops to remain seperate.

    Thank-you
    Michelle

    Hello Michelle,

There are a couple of ways for you to scale into an active ATM Strategy and have separate stop losses. The first is to click on the ATM drop down and choose <Custom>, then type in the number for your stop loss (and profit target if you choose one) and submit your order. The second way to do this is to create another ATM Strategy with your desired stop loss to scale in with. Then, after submitting your first order, click the ATM Strategy drop down and choose the Strategy with the stop loss you wish to scale in with and click submit.

You can also use the same ATM Strategy and have separate stops by first changing the ATM Strategy selection mode. To change this setting, please right click within the SuperDOM and then left click on Properties. Under the "General" section, left click inside the box next to "ATM Strategy selection mode" and then left click the drop down arrow and click on "KeepSelectedAtmStrategyTemplateOnOrderSubmission" . Then, click the Apply button and the OK button.

Hi James, thanks for your reply. I have done what you have recommended above for SIM101. I then disconnected and reconnected to my data feed. However my orders still get combined into one order when I enter into a second position - please see this video: http://youtu.be/dkAMw26bIAI?hd=1

      Have I done something incorrectly?

You made the change to your selection mode in a SuperDOM window, then placed a trade on the chart using Chart Trader. All order entry windows are independent of each other. Changing a setting on your SuperDOM will have no effect on Chart Trader or any other order entry windows. Clicking "Set Default" means that future SuperDOMs will reflect these settings by default.

You must also make these changes within Chart Trader by expanding Chart Trader > Right-clicking on Chart Trader > Chart Trader properties.
