"Minimum Commision" in place of Commision Level?

Hello,

Per contract I pay $2.31 for a gold futures contract - it is as simple as that. I have been defining my commissions via Instrument Manager > Edit the instrument > Misc Tab > "Commission Levels" > define 1 unit with a commission of $2.31

If I simply put $2.31 in the "Minimum Commission" field instead of defining a level, would the end result be the same?

Hello Michelle,

No entirely. A flat commission (minimum commission) will apply commissions per side per order.

A tiered level (commission level) will apply commissions per side per contract/share.

Do you have 2.31 commission per side or per round trip? Does it apply for each contract - if you submit an order with quantity of 2, does it calculate double?

One last question, I have quote a few contracts which have a one way cost per contract of $1.34. If I definie this tier via Options > Commissions - - will this rate be automatically applied to all contracts?

Should I also define a commission via editing in the Instrument Manager for a particular contract, will this value override the above rate of $1.34 for that particular contract?

Yes, it will be applied to all instruments that you select (futures, stocks, currency, etc).

Yes, commissions setup for an indivual instrument will override the commissions you have setup in the Options menu.
