backtesting help

Im am new to ninja trader, It seems everytime I run a backtest, I get no results at, even using the sample strats provided, I have an esignal connection tied to NT, Do I still need to down load historical data to my hard drive to run results or will it pull from esignal? If so please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks Everyone

Yes you will need to download data, but the data will normally be automatically downloaded when you try to backtest. You need to be connected to your data feed while this is happening.

yes My Esignal daa feed is connected, using your sample MA crossver to test, followed all set procedures in backtest. Any other ideas? I can test forward during live trading hrs but not back...

Which instrument are you trying? Try opening a chart of the instrument individually. Are you able to populate that chart with historical data? Any errors in the Control Center logs?

yes I was using aapl I can load it on NT charts and scroll back, so im lost
