How to use Gridlines DashStyle - Custom.

When I set the Gridline DashStyle to Custom, nothing seems to happen.

I was hoping this would be an avenue to define a custom dot pattern for the gridines such as:
a single pixel height and width dot followed by say 4 blank pixels and repeat this pattern all the way across the chart.

It would look like: . . . . . . . . .
