identical machine id?

Hello!

I tried to test a vendor's strategy, but unfortunately he told me, that he had already activated my machine id for a trial and now, he can not activate it again.

How is that possible? I have never participated in any trial or whatsoever. He told me the username from the guy with the same id, but yes, what can I do about that. I guess this guy sits is the US, but I am from europe. I have no clue.

Hello krautsch,

The 3rd party licensing allows you to create a custom userid string that attaches to the machine ID to make your computer unique in the case that two computers have randomly generated the same MachineID.

This 3rd party licensing should be done with all licensed scripts and all users should have a unique identifier attached to the end of the MachineID, but in practice this is not always used and can lead to duplicates such as this.

I recommend that you use the 3rd party licensing and generate a MachineId-UserId and then send this to the vendor so that they may register this.

• Click Help -> 3rd Party Licensing
• Type the Vendor name as this appears exactly in the error message you are receiving from the indicator. (This is also in the Log tab)
• Type a User defined ID
• Click Submit
• Copy the generated id below and email this to the vendor
