time to flatten

the option under misc tab time to flatten,to make use of it does my computer has to be on and connected to data feed till the time to flatten or can i just choose a time to flatten and switch off my computer.pls advise
also every instrument has different session times,till what time before session close i must exit all my positions so as not to attract overnight margin.eg like for cl and es

For NinjaTrader to do anything, it needs to be on and running.

Yes, for the Flatten position at time to work, NinjaTrader does need to be running (and connected to your brokerage or data feed and receiving incoming data).
