what is the correct session template to use for US equities?

There's not necessarily a correct Session Template to use -- it would depend on the hours you'd like to see in your own respective charts.
You can check what Session Template is in use on your charts via the Data Series menu (right click on the chart > Data Series).
To view what times the Session Template is referencing, you can use the top drop-down menu of the Session Manager (Tools > Session Manager). From here, you can determine what template you'd like to use on your charts (I suggest checking the Exchange's website for the trading hours for the equity you're interested in).
