Hi.

How secure is logging into my live account with NT through a WIFI connection or a connection at a hotel? What is to stop someone collecting packets and obtaining my login credentials?

Thank you for your post.

I would say that this is relatively secure. The connection itself is encrypted and the likelihood of someone collecting this information in the first place is very low. With this said, wifi connections tend to be slower and less stable than wired connections so I would be wary of trading live through a wireless connection.

So NT encrypts the username/password and all data entering/exiting the computer or just the username/password?

Thanks for your reply.

Looking further into this with development I have the following information on this.

We try to use encryption when possible for the login/handshake process but there are some API's where it is outside of our control. If you wants to know for a specific adapter, let me know who you connect to.

Real-time data would not be over a secure connection for performance concerns.

When would be a case where encryption would not be possible?

Here is my situation: On my laptop, I want to log into my IQFeed account for data while at work. I will not be placing trades. There is not a way someone could obtain my username/password on the network is there?
