Ninja demo with CQG no chart update

    While I realize that first just simply acquiring the market data is important, trade execution also comes in to play. Once the dust settles, could we also please get a report on how trade execution went yesterday for those who were able to connect. Also, please distinguish between performance of orders kept on NT/broker servers vs. orders that traders were trying to inject from their computers.

    Also, a lessons learned review would be appreciated for NT system operation during the high-volume stress period seen yesterday. While black swan events are rare, they do occur, and stops must still be processed.

    I realize that I am asking for a somewhat comprehensive update, but, the fact is that this will all be repeated at some point in the future, and I want to be ready for it. Thanks.

        Hello MrSmartGuy,

        This is only in relation to demo accounts. This does not affect live executions. Simualtion executions are based on your rimualtion settings under Tools> Options> Simulator

          I am also getting the same problem. NT7 is connected to CQG but no live data. When contacted with CQG, they told to discuss the issue with NT7's support team.

              Other providers?

              This long time without reliable data is a major concern. I would be having a fit if I were trying to trade for real using Continuum/CQG these last few days. Lots of opportunities missed and lots of potential danger without reliable data or connection. I love NT and the brokerage but these serious data problems cause me to ask: what other data and connection options are available through NinjaTrader Brokerage and are the commissions any different. Is CQG/Continuum the only connection that has been showing this problem?

                  Thanks for your reply.

                  This affected any CQG/Continuum/NinjaTrader Continuum demo users from any brokerage with NinjaTrader. This did not affect any live connections.

                    Hi Brandon,

                    I do certainly appreciate your efforts in handling this, but at the end of the day, it is still unnerving to have such an outage occur, even if only demo accounts were affected.

                    Please consider these concerns:
                    -- I'm sure that I am not the only demo account user working on code with a plan to transition to a live account one day. This is not a trivial undertaking, and given that there are common system elements between the simulated and live accounts, it is definitely an interest point to know where things went awry.

                    -- You mention that the issue has been found -- was it equipment failure, a software bug, or perhaps a policy decision?

                    -- If it was a policy decision to dynamite the levee at the demo user port as a sacrifice to support live users in the event of heavy traffic, then the next question is was it done as extra insurance, or was the top of the levee system about to be breached. This would be a concern for future live operation, if indeed total capacity was nearing the limit. That has clear implications for a demo user looking to transition to a live account.

                    -- So, if the issues are known to have occurred only with demo users. then that implies that live users did not suffer in any way. Can you please verify this.

                    -- We all sign on with such systems fully aware that things can occasionally go very wrong. Many of us have also learned from using other systems that exchanges, data pipes, computers, and trade desks have a way of working great until they do not work, almost always when needed the most. And so, we have learned to ask many questions when these market anomalies occur. I accept the customary "Acts of God" limitations because that is the nature of computer systems, but I will certainly do all that I can to minimize such events, and that requires a certain understanding of the belly of the beast.

                    Like I said in an earlier post, just please forward the details when the dust has settled. I understand that you are probably unable to provide an instant response at this moment. I do appreciate your efforts.

                      This was related to a software change which only affected some users.
                      That is correct, live accounts were unaffected and use different servers.

                        Still waiting

                        Unable to get data and this is the 3rd day I have been waiting for a solution to this problem. I just sent new logs to Ninja. Keep telling me "it should be resolved" soon.

                            I now have data automatically updating again, although it is troubling that it was out of service for two days. What actions are being taken to ensure that it does not happen again?
