Ninja installation error

    Ninja installation error

    Support,

    While I was upgrading NT7 to latest version,..I got this below attached error and installation couldn't continue on Windows 8.

    Is this a known issue? Is there anyway to resolve this?

    Hello,

    Thanks for writing in.

    Please reinstall .NET 3.5 and try to install once again
    • Go to the Uninstall a Program section of the Windows Control Panel
    • At the top left select Turn Windows features on or off
    • Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and select OK.
    • After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1

    After the install please check for updates to the .Net Framework with the Windows Update function

      Thanks Brandon. I tried the exact steps you mentioned but it didn't work and I am getting same error. In the process of trying the above steps, I also updated windows 8 with all updates. But upgrading ninja to latest version failed and it gave the error in the attached file in my first post.

      I actually went to C:\programfiles x86\Ninjatrader 7\bin but couldn't find the file "Ninjatrader.installer.InstallState" ,..is this a hidden file?

      Can I call you to resolve this problem?

        Thanks for your reply.

        Then you have .Net properly installed. This error is not related to .NET not being on the computer.
        Do you have an anti virus/firewall installed on your system and if so which one? (example: Norton, AVG, Avast, BitDefender)

          Thanks Brandon. On this computer, I am using AVG free edition on Windows 8.

          Anyway to resolve this ninja installation problem?

            Temporarily disable your protection program and within windows disable UAC.
            Learn how to protect your Windows devices and personal data from viruses, malware, or malicious attacks.


            Once complete, attempt the install once again.

                What version are you upgrading from? The really early versions of 7.0 had some specific stuff.

                Have you tried simply uninstalling NT first? (assuming you have backups, but I'm pretty sure NT doesn't trash user installed stuff, unless this is a really early version that might not be compatible).

                    Thanks Sledge. I am upgrading from 7.0.1000.16

                    I didn't try uninstalling and reinstalling. Was just trying regular Ninja upgrade. Was worried if Ninja removes any settings etc upon uninstall.
