    "Login failed: Unable to connect to the remote server"

    Hey guys, I have been trying to be connected both to Ninja Trader Continuum and CQG but the message "Login failed: Unable to connect to the remote server" is always appearing. I have a demo account and I have tried in too many ways to fix it but something goes wrong...Any ideas???

    Hello Joleto,

    This message is generally received if NinjaTrader is not able to communicate through the internet to the CQG / Continuum server.

    Do you have a firewall or anti-virus program running? If so, what is the name of this?

    Are you able to run a tracert successfully to the server?

    The server address is demo.cqgtrader.com for the demo and cqgtrader.com for the live.

      I don't have a firewall or an antivirus but I run ninjatrader through vmware furious if that helps you.
      Could you please write the exact syntax for tracert because it's kinda confusing?

        Hello Joleto,

        To run a tracert, you will need to open up a Command Promprt. To do this, you will want to click on the Start menu and search for "cmd" (no quotes). Open the cmd program and a black box should appear that is titled "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe". This is the Command Prompt.

        In the Command Prompt, if you are running a demo, to run a tracert to demo.cqgtrader.com, you will want to type "tracert democqgtrader.com" (no quotes) and press Enter.

        If you are running a live account, type "tracert cqgtrader.com".

        Are you able to run a tracert successfully to the server?

          When I run the second one, the cmd says the belong:

          Tracing route to cqgtrader.com [208.48.16.200]
          over a maximum of 30 hops:

          1 <1 ms 11ms 5ms 192.168.149.2
          2 * * * Request timed out.
          3 * * * Request timed out.

          and it continues until 30

            Hello Joleto,

            This would denote that you are unable to reach the server.

            Please ensure that you have no security software preventing you from reaching the server.

            If you continue to have issues, I would advise you to restart your PC, modem, and router. If the issue still persists, you may need to contact your ISP.

                I did all that and I am still getting "Login failed: Unable to connect to the remote server". Even if I disable my firewall and after I reboot my internet, computer and Ninja Trader.

                  Hello lrybs,

                  Please run a tracert to demo.cqgtrader.com (if you are attempting to connect to a demo) or to cqgtrader.com. Will the connection go through to the server?

                  A tracert can be ran by following the steps which NinjaTrader_ZacharyG outlined in post #4.

                    my black cmd box says "C:\Users\m>
                    How do I change it to read "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe" so I can type in:
                    "tracert democqgtrader.com"
                    (Of course there are no quote marks on any of these)

                      Hello,

                      The window which you are referring to is the Command Prompt. You would simply need to enter 'tracert demo.cqgtrader.com' (without quotes) then click Enter on your keyboard to execute the command.

                            I'm having the same problem. Run the tracert and most lines said "request timed out" (demo)
