TIF : Day or Ctg previously?

Hello...

I think it´s a simple question, but I prefer to answer:

If I get a position (long or short) with DAY mode in TIF, can I change it later to Gtc if I see next day could be better to close it?

If I have select DAY, my position will close automatically at the end of the session ?

In simulation mode, I do not select Gtc, I always leave my orders in DAY mode, and these one are always actived next days. I don´t close them until I decide to do it.

With a real account, is similar? or do I have to select Gtc before get an order if I want to continue with my orders opened next day/s?

Hello JavierV,

Unfortunately you cannot change the TIF setting for active orders.

Orders submitted with TIF set to Day will be cancelled automatically at the end of the sesssion.

It is different when trading live. Please submit orders with TIF set to Gtc if you do not want them to be cancelled at the end of the session.

Another basic question :

I operate in CL (West Texas Crude Oil - Nymex-), from 20th to 20th next month.

is there any limit of days I can get my position opened in Gtc, befor day 20? Can I be 18 days with an opened position?

If I leave (for example) 5 open days a position until I decide to close it, I will be charged with 5 days of comissions?

Unfortunately I do not know. I suggest to clarify with your broker how long you can stay in the position and how much commission will be calculated.
