Close 1h candle at 16:00 instead at 16:30?!

    Hey guys,

I haven't found any thread in this regard, so sorry if this topic already exists.

When looking closer at the NT 1h charts of American stocks I figured out, that the first candle closes at 16:30 (which makes sense as the US opens at 15:30). However, for some reasons, in Europe, most public realtime-data / brokers close this candle already at 16:00 (instead of 16:30).

Do you have any idea why?
Is it possible to change NT that the first hourly candle is also closed at 16:00?
Which candles are "right" or more relevant?

Thank you for your posts and help

    Cheers Pascal

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

Which Session Template is applied to your chart? To check please right click in the chart and select Data Series; you will find the Session Template setting on the right side of this menu.

If you are using the '<Use Instrument Settings>' template please let me know which instrument is selected in the chart.

ahhh, thank you! It was written <use instrument template>...
I just changed it to the 24/5 template and now candles are now closing at 16:00.

However, I am wondering whether this will also impact my trading stratgegies:

Assume a simple strat, which goes long when the 1h candle open [0] > close [0]. Would this strategy buy at 16:30 or already at 16:00 because I changed the template? Where do I have to modify that indicators, candles are already calculated at 16:00?!

      Thank you very much!

        Hello cNuuuuuu,

        Thanks for your post.

If your strategy is set with CalculateOnBarClose = true and if the strategy uses the condition Open[0] > Close[0] to place an order to go long and if the candle meeting the condition closed at 16:00 then the order would be placed on the next candle.

thanks for your answer. I was in holiday.

          I used "Print(Time[0].ToString("dd/MM/yyyy") + "," + Time[0].ToString("HH:mm:ss"));" on a 60Minute type to figure out when the candle is finished. I figured out that it is 16:30, 17:30 ...

However it works, when I change the session template of the data series. Is there a way to change the session template for all instruments at once?! I am not motivated to change the template for all S&P500 instruments manually

            Hello cNuuuuuu,

            Thanks for your reply.

Regrettably the session templates are applied per dataseries. I am not aware of a method to globally change/apply them.

I'll apply the unsupported way mentioned in this thread:

              Thanks for your help!
