NT Silver chart is "gappy" compared to CME chart

    Hello,

Attached is a screenshot of a chart for the December Silver futures contract. As you can see the NT chart looks VERY different compared to the chart on the CME http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/meta...us/silver.html

Is this perhaps a setting I may have in NT or is it my data supplier?

    Thank-you
    Michelle

    Hello,
Does the chart look similar if you change it to a 1440 minute chart?
Most providers do not provide daily data as ETH only RTH.

      Hi Code,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes!! It looks MUCH better if I use a (24 x 60min) = 1440 minute chart.

Could you please tell me what ETH and RTH stand for?

      Thanks again,
      Michelle

        Hello,
ETH stands for Electronic Trading Hours and RTH stands for Regular Trading hours.
If we can be of any other assistance please let us know.

Hi I told my coworker I would make him a silver chart. Like you, when I pulled up a chart it was gappy. I did not understand the answer you were given for a solution. The 1440 solution. What does that mean? For the record, I trade the ES (s&p futures index), and use a 2000 tick chart. Do you happen to know how I can achieve this non-gappy look using ticks, or whatever? I would like 365 days of price action on the chart. Thanks.

            Hi Patpat,

I'm sorry but I don't really understand your question. However, to explain the 1440 solution - - basically some data providers let you download DAILY data separately from minute data. Go and take a look in: Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\ ... and you'll see all the different data that gets downloaded for each instrument.

Like me, it sounds like your friend's data provider does not let him download daily data either. So what you can do is simply make each candle represent 1440 minutes which is the same as one day (1 day = 24 hours = 24x60 minutes = 1440 minutes)

            Cheers,
            Michelle
