Why do I see orders on new charts with no scripts running?

I've been wondering about this for a while.

It seems that when I open a new chart with absolutely nothing running I'll have buy and sell orders everywhere on the chart...

    Any ideas?

Since you likely ran a strategy in some account. A blank chart will plot all executions from any account in the database.

Actually, this is a blank chart, I just opened Ninja, I'm not even connected to any account and don't have any scripts running at all.

I do recognize some of the signal names from a custom strategy though. Could be be caused by a programming error or something messed up in my configuration?

You don't need to be connected to an account because the information is stored in your NT database. This is why it is loaded up like that.

Ok thanks, is there a way to get rid of it? If I reset the simulator account will that do the trick? Or would I use Reset DB?

The only time I want to see orders plotted is when that particular strategy is running, otherwise I want a blank chart to be just that, allowing me to test ideas with a clean slate.

            You can

            - Reset the simulator
            - Disable plotting of execution on a chart (Chart Properties)

I don't really want to have to reset the account everyday just so these plots go away so I think I'll try saving a template with plotting disabled, and then try to re-enable plotting from within the strategies.

An additional option in the chart properties to plot only when a strategy is on a chart would be really helpful in the future...

While this feature may have use for some, its a 'bug' for me.

Using two chart templates is generally what people do. They just switch between the two depending on what they want to see. Just as effective as an option.

That's probably what I'll do. Thanks for the tips.

I would be great if the templates were directly accessible in the templates context menu (like Instruments and Intervals), but I know thats already being considered...
