Charts are not loading when connecting market replay

    Hi,

I'm having an issue with charts when using market replay.
I already downloaded from 4/1/2015 to 4/8/2015 of ES, TF, YM, NQ and 6E.

But when I connected to market replay and set from/to date on replay player,
charts appear blank and start print from 4/1/2015.
By the way, I set my replay date from 4/1/2015 to 4/1/2015.

I thought the reason why it doesn't show me the previous days' candles(prior to 4/1/2015)
was because I only downloaded from 4/1/2015 and no data available in my PC prior to
4/1/2015. So I changed my replay date from 4/6/2015 to 4/6/2015 expecting to
see at least 5 days candles(from 4/1/2015 to 4/5/2015). But it was the same.
The chart only shows from 4/6/2015 and forward.

I use 5 separate charts on 1 instrument to test my system. They are 30 sec, 1 min,
5, mins, 60 mins and daily and saved them as my workspace.

However, when playing with replay, no previous charts appear any of these 5 charts.

How do I see previous days' candles?

Right click on the chart and click "reload all historical data"?

How far back does your 30 second chart go?

      Thanks sledge for your input.

Unfortunately it doesn't let me click reload all historical data.
It is not clickable at all.

        Hello jjanguda,

        Thank you for your inquiry.

Please ensure that you have downloaded historical data for these instruments. You can do this by going to the Control Center and clicking Tools -> Historical Data Manager…

Once the Historical Data Manager window opens, you’ll want to go to the Download tab. Select the specific instrument, or instrument list, that you want to download data for. Since you want to download data for the ES, TF, YM, NQ, and 6E, it would be useful to have all of these instruments in an instrument list. You’ll be able to download the historical data for that 4/1/2015 to 4/8/2015 time period that you wanted. Be sure to checkmark all intervals and data types you’d like to download in your historical data, and then click on Download. Ensure you are connected to a data provider before clicking Download as you will need to be connected to one to download historical data.

You’ll be able to see the progress of your data download in the lower right hand corner of your Control Panel.

Please, let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

          Thanks you ZacharyG,

I have added these contracts under Default.

          6E 06-15 (3/13/15 ~ 6/11/15)
          CL 06-15 (4/17/15 ~ 5/14/15)
          CL 07-15 (5/15/15 ~ 6/17/15)
          ES 06-15 (3/12/15 ~ 6/10/15)
          GC 06-15 (3/31//15 ~ 5/28/15)
          NQ 06-15 (3/12/15 ~ 6/10/15)
          TF 06-15 (3/12/15 ~ 6/10/15)
          YM 06-15 (3/12/15 ~ 6/10/15)

Under Download tab, I selected Default instead of selecting a single instrument
and date from 4/1/15 to 4/8/15 and checked all intervals and data types.
I was connected to demo and clicked download button.
          Then it started downloading.

          Questions..

          1. The date I selected covers from 4/1/15 - 4/8/15. However, I have CL 06-15 and 07-15
which do not cover the date I selected. Does it mean that no historical data from 4/1 - 4/8 for CL would be downloaded until I change start and end date?

Start date should be no later than 4/17/2015 unless I add CL 05-15 contract to download 4/1 - 4/8 ?

          2. What is the easiest way to download historical data of these instruments?
Let's say that I want a data from 1/1/2014 to current for ES.
This means that I need to add ES contract from 03-14(rollover date is 12/12/2013) to 06-15 under instrument list (under instrument manager)?
          Once added ES 03-14, 06-14, 09-14, 12-14, 03-15, 06-15, then I select start date(1/1/14) and end date(5/21/15) to download historical data?

          3. Regardless of contract date listed under default (under download tab of historical data manager), historical data will download anyway according to start and end date I select?
In other words, I have ES 06-15 on the list. It covers 3/12/15 to 6/10/15.
If I select 1/1/2014 to 5/21/2015 as start and end date, it will still download historical
data from 1/1/14 to 5/21/15 or it won't download only from 3/12/15 to 5/21/15?

I think I'm confused with downloading replay data and historical data...
I was told that I should select the right contract date and reply data to sync/match properly.

          Please help. Thanks.

            Hello jjanguda,

            To answer your questions:

            1. There will still be data for these instruments. These instruments were trading during those days in April.

            2. You can still download historical data for these instruments regardless of what contract month you have in your instrument list. This, however, would depend on your merge policy. You can check you merge policy by clicking Tools -> Options… in the Control Center. Once the “Options” window pops up, click on the “Data” tab. You’ll want to make sure your merge policy is “MergeBackAdjusted” or “MergeBackAdjusted”. You can learn more about merge policies in the NinjaTrader help guide at this link under the “Understanding merge policies” section: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...rical_data.htm

            3. This will depend on your merge policy. Data will still be downloaded from the previous contract months regardless.
