IB Not Connecting

    IB Not Connecting

    Installed NT7 (latest, multibroker) on a new laptop. When I go to connect to IB I get an error telling me that TWS (944.3) cannot find javaw.exe.

    However, my installation does have javaw.exe installed.

    Any thoughts?

    Same here; typical Windows ****!!
    Older solutions on the forum don't work.
    Java's screwed up, so I can begin a whole new installation.
    NT deserves a better operating system!!

      I don't seem to have the same problem on my dell workstation which is also Win8.1 I do notice that on the W/S Java installed to Windows/System32 whereas it's in some other folder on the laptop.

        Hello,
        Please follow the instructions below.
        1. Locate javaw.exe located in the following directory:
        • C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25\bin(Note your version may be different from jre1.8.0_25)


        2. You are going to COPY the javaw.exe file to the 'clipboard' (right-click Javaw.exe and select copy)
        3. Now paste it into the following two directories:
        • C:\Windows\System32
        • C:\Windows\SysWOW64

        Please let me know if you are unable to connect to Interactive Brokers after following the instructions provided.

            Ok; now I really need help!
            New install of Windows 7, NT en TWS; same problem.
            This took hours!

            The last time I copied javaw.exe to C:\Windows\System32, everything spaced!
            So suggestions please for Windows 7;
            I don't see C:\Windows\SysWOW64 in all that Windows junk.

              I'd like to see your log and trace files. Please send me a note to platformsupport (at) ninjatrader (dot) com. Attach your most current log and trace files to the email, and put a link to this forum post in the body of the email. Please note "ATTN: Drew" in the body of the response.


              You will find the log file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.


              The log file will be named "log.20150316.txt"


              You will find the trace file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.


              The trace file will be named "trace.20150316.txt"

                Thanks to persistent support, it works again!!

                Please note:
                • Windows 32 bit doesn't have a SysWOW64 folder
                • Do try to browse and locate the java.exe file first;
                (C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25\bin(Note your version may be different from jre1.8.0_25)
                it may only be a shortcut-link problem.
