    Configuring for reliable data connection

I have an intermittent issue with my NT7 connection to Kinetick data. Every once in a while ( almost always overnight, but sometimes in the middle of the day as well) the data-feed stops even though NT is showing a green connection status. I sometimes get a 'Connection Loss' alert but I don't think this is always the case and it might look like it has recovered when it hasn't.

I do not know if the cause is at my NT config, indicator bug, my PC, my ISP, one of the Kinetick servers or somewhere else.

Are there any guidelines posted for setting up a reliable connection? e.g. disable PC power management, QoS settings for my router, NT settings to force a reconnect, etc. etc.

Hi vlc, thanks for your post.

While we don't have any official guidelines for ensuring a stable connection, there are a few things you can do:

*Disable your PC from going to sleep with the Windows Power Manager
*I recommend a connection speed faster than 10MB down, if available.
*Ensure exceptions have been added to any backup/firewall/antivirus programs running on your PC to exclude (My) Documents/NinjaTrader 7
*Configure any firewall you are running, be it software or built-in to your router, to allow communications from 69.41.208.42 and 199.181.252.158.
*If the above does not resolve this, I suggest contacting your ISP to determine if you are running into some sort of overnight maintenance period or if they have some sort of other issue on their end.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Thanks very much... so far so good... connection holding well two days running so far.
My download speed is typically 50mb/s to 80mb/s, but my upload speed is only about 3 to 4 mb/s. I assume it is the download speed that matters more.

        Hi, thanks for your reply.

Download speed matters more in getting data from your datafeed provider's servers, where upload speed would be used in uploading trades to your broker's servers. Your speeds for both download and upload should be more than sufficient for both operations.
