TWS Login Failed Message

Hi all,

Connection problems that I was able to overcome in Windows 7 are defeating me in Windows 8.1. It's the dreaded 'missing javaw.exe' error message.

The stats:
OS: Windows 8.1
Java Version 8, Update 25
NT Version: 64-bit, 7.0.1000.26
TWS Version: Build 944.3

While in NT, I try:
File > Connect > (Interactive Brokers)

Error message:
Login Failed: Can't find Java executable at 'C:\\WINDOWS\system32\..\SysWOW\javaw.exe'. Unable to start TWS.

Ninjatrader starts up fine. Can run Market Replay connection and playback recorded sessions no problem (on older computer).

IB TWS starts up fine on it's own (both my paper and regular accounts

Can you please perform the instructions below.

1. Locate javaw.exe located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25\bin(Note your version may be different from jre1.8.0_25)
2. You are going to COPY the javaw.exe file to the 'clipboard' (right-click Javaw.exe and select copy)
3. Now paste it into the following two directories:
C:\Windows\System32
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
4. Once this is complete, please check if you can connect without errors.

For reference, placing javaw.exe in my Windows/System32 folder does NOT work.
However, placing javaw.exe in the Windows/SysWOW64 DOES work.
