continuous future contract

Hi I saw there was a way to show a continuous future contract in the form of ES#### how can I apply it?
is there an explanation somewhere where I can see how to set it up?

Hello,

There are a few ways that you can open a continuous contract. In any open chart, you can simply type "ES ##-##" (or any other symbol followed by ##-##). You can also type this into the field at the top-right of the Data Series window.

There are a few things to note with continuous contracts -- not every data provider supports them, and you will not be able to view real-time data with continuous contracts. Also, you will not be able to trade off of a continuous contact, only view the historical data.

To get around these limitations, you can use a merge policy in the Options window to show continuous data on a chart for a current contract. To do this, click Tools > Options > Data, then change the value in the "Merge Policy" field. Next, you will need to change the "Days to Load" parameter in the Data Series window on a chart to a higher value to view additional days of data.
