Almost all of my chart objects were deleted

I have a live connection to my broker, and I had tons of objects (mainly fibs) on my chart going back months...today I disconnected from my broker to do some backtesting on the historical data feed on some data from October. Once I was done with that, I reconnected to my broker live feed, and almost all of my objects were gone...the only ones still there are those that I drew today.

How could this possibly happen? I saved the workspace extremely frequently, even if for some reason I didn't today, there should still be many weeks full of chart objects still there.

Also, I switched workspaces to another workspace for backtesting, so I wonder if that caused the problem.

The weird thing is I never would have saved this main workspace with it missing all of these objects, so how come when I shut Ninja down and reloaded it, everything was still missing? Could the objects still be there and just not be showing? Why would it only show today's drawn objects?

By the way I am absolutely certain I am on the correct workspace now, which should have all of these weeks full of chart objects.

I suspect that the case outlined at the forum thread we've discussed does explain the issue in this case. What I would recommend is that you shut NinjaTrader down and set the PC's clock back a few days to see whether this will allow you to display the objects again after NinjaTrader is restarted.

Big thanks to Cal for going through this issue with me today. Unfortunately we were not able to restore my lost objects...this is a lot of work down the drain. I really hope this issue is being addressed in NT8...all I did was switch to backtest mode and backtested a couple months back, and now I've lost everything due to Ninja's auto delete object function...surely this is not how the program is designed to function. Perhaps a setting to toggle this on and off easily would be best.

Yes it was. Going back to October in market replay seems to be what messed everything up. Once I left market replay and came back to my normal feed on the current day (December 2), everything was gone other than my most recently drawn objects from that day.

Oh and I will add that this only affected global objects, it seems...as a couple random local objects were still there, but the overwhelming majority of my objects were global, and these are all gone. So it's weird how it only affected global objects. The global objects I created that same day are still there, but the rest going back several weeks are gone.

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, this is expected behavior. It is recommended that users have a separate workspace for live data and for Market Replay. Drawing objects are not rendered for objects in the future of the replay date and if the workspace is saved the drawings will be lost.

I do not have any information on whether this has been changed in the next major release or not.
