email alerts

I want add email alert capability to an indicator. My searched resulted in following syntax
SendMail(string from, string to, string subject, string text)
Is that good for user generated alert on chart indicator or market analyzer alerts?

My next question is do I have to setup my email via tools> options>misc tab and what do i have to do there. I use web based gmail and dont use external email client like outlook.

Yes, SendMail() will work in an indicator running in the Market Analyzer.

Yes, the SMTP server settings in the Options -> Misc tab will need to be setup for this to work.

I followed your instruction for setting up email account settings but when I hit test button it says
failed to send mail. you need to setup your mail account settings. I have tried twice and I am sure I am entering correct pw etc, also filled out mail alert message to box and I am not sure what is the purpose of that box. I have tried two different email providers
