setting margin rates

hello

i am a bit confused about setting margin rates in NT

I am using IB and the margin % for the majors is 2.5%

Can you please let me know what I should be putting in each of the fields to tell NT what to calculate for my margin?

You would need to put in a hard value and would not be able to use a percentage.

When you say 2.5%, what is that percentage based off of?

If I understand you correctly, then it could make it pretty difficult, actually.

The percentage is based on the total units entered into. So, for example, if I were to enter into 10,000 units of the EURUSD (or basically 1 mini lot) then I would take 10,000 x 2.5% and would get my margin....$250. It can also be expressed as 40:1 leverage.

For IB, and I would assume the vast majority of other US based brokers, each of the majors are 40:1 (USD, EUR, JPY, CHF, GBP, AUD, CAD).

They only way I would see that you could get this calculated would be to have the calculation logic setup in a strategy that would be running and could calculate the margin based on this percentage level.
