Updating New Version?

I am wanting to update to newer version of NinjaTrader 7 but do not want to lose all my Strategies that put together with the Strategy Wizard. Do i just uninstall the current version and just download and install the newest version? And leave the NinjaTrader folder alone?

Thank you for the question.

Regarding settings in NinjaTrader.

All of your user created items such as strategies, settings, ATM strategies, templates, etc..
These items are all stored in the Documents\NinjaTrader 7 folder.

The installer when doing a upgrade only installs the application but does not change your user directory so everything is retained.

When upgrading I always recommend doing a backup using the backup tool in File -> Utilities -> Backup.

After doing this you can simply exit NinjaTrader and run the Setup.exe and press next until finished.

After installing the update launch NinjaTrader and your user files should be the same as when you exited.

So basically i can just download the newest version and run install on top of the older version?

Hello,

You got it. NinjaTrader was designed to understand if it is installed currently or not.

If you have NinjaTrader installed and try to re install the same version it will ask if you want to repair the installation or remove it.

If you are installing a newer version it simply will install over the old version.
