    abort historical data manager hung

I erroneously ticked the "tick" box to download historical data instead of "minute". I therefore clicked "abort" in the control centre. This was nearly a day ago, and NinjaTrader still says "Aborting. Please wait..."

I can't re-start as I have trades and strategies running.

How can I stop this process?

    Hello James Beale,

It is likely just stuck in displaying the text 'Aborting'. I assume NinjaTrader and your strategies are running without issue. Please restart NinjaTrader when you have no trades and strategies running and the text should be removed.

No. The historical data manager is running also. It won't shut down. Can I use task manager to kill it? Will that resolve the issue? Will I then be able to go back and download data?

I see. You will shut down NinjaTrader entirely if you kill it via the Windows task manager, so your strategies will be disabled. However once restarted, you should be able to download historical data again.

No. I don't mean to kill NinjaTrader, just historical data manager. It shows up separately in task manager. Have you looked at this before?

Sorry, I assumed you referred to the NinjaTrader.exe process under the Processes-tab.

Yes, you can shut down the Historical Data Manager from the Applications-tab in the Windows task manager.

Oops! I think you might have made a small mistake! Killing the Historical Data Manager from the Applications-tab in the Windows task manager also killed off NinjaTrader.exe process under the Processes-tab!

This does not happen on my end when I close the Historical Data Manager from the Applications-tab in the Windows task manager. I tested it first on my end before I sent my previous post. Are you able to reproduce this after you restart NinjaTrader?

No, unfortunately not. And I think the reason is that historic data manager isn't "stuck" like it was before.
