Loading and backtesting historical data

Hi,

I have a problem loading and backtesting data that exists on my system. I have ES data to September 2005 however when I try to load a chart of the ES 09-14 it will only display to 2008.

I discovered this was an issue as I was trying to clarify with my data vendor how far back I should be able to go.

I explained to them I could only see to this point (2008) and it was suggested I load the ES ##-## which to my surprise shows data to September 2005 but when I backtest using the ES ##-## symbol it still will not go back further than 2008.

Could anyone offer any help on how I can resolve this?

suprsnipes, would the same be seen if you for example just backtest our SampleMACrossOver on the continuous contract data you have for the ES?
