Closer to broker server or data server?

Hi there

I'm planning to run NT on a virtual server. My question is, should such virtual server be located closer to the broker server (IB in Hong Kong in my case), or the market data server (eSignal data server in UK) for the most efficient order entry?

I'm thinking, if an order entry requires, say 1 trip to the market data server and 2 trips to the broker server (just for example), then I should choose the one closer to the broker, and vice versa.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

We here at NinjaTrader have no offical position on the physical location of your VPS. I will leave this thread open for the comment of other traders however I would recommend that you contact your broker with the same question in the meantime.

Thanks for your reply. I understand you can't make recommendation of specific VPS location.

Let me rephrase my question: which of the following connection speed has bigger impact to the speed of an order entry:

1) connection speed between NT and broker
2) connection speed between NT and market data

FYR, I'm using IB as broker, eSignal as data connection.

They both are related. I assume you base your order entry on market data and the order itself is submitted from NinjaTrader to your broker. I am not sure you can say one has a bigger impact than the other - they are both relevant.

If you take "speed of an order entry" literal, you could say 1) connection speed between NT and broker.
