Problem loading ES
Hi - according to Instrument Manager, I'm selecting ES 09-14, but when I select the instrument, I get the message 'error on loading chart data for ES 03-14 Globex: E, Invalid Symbol' and the chart doesn't form correctly (see attached jpg). Any ideas?Tags: None

Hello EzCohen,
Thank you for your forum post.
Please let me know the following:
- What version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can check under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.X)
- Who are you connected to? This is displayed by green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.
To ensure your ES instrument is setup as we would expect, please reset your instruments:
When you perform an instrument reset, the following actions will occur:
- User added instruments will not be affected.
- Any changes you have made to the original instrument settings will be reset
- Any changed symbol mappings will be reset including changes made for use with the Automated Trading Interface.
- Disconnect from any data providers.
- Control Center > Tools > Options...
- Data tab > Reset Instruments
- Restart NinjaTrader
If you right mouse click on the chart background > Data series... how many days to load are being requested?
If this is a large amount of days, does reducing the number and applying help to load the ES 09-14 data?
I look forward to assisting you further.Ryan L.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Install version is 1000.24, connected to IQfeed.
I did the Instrument reset and played around with it a bit. What seems to be happening is that I can get a functional chart if the 'days to load' is set to 3, but I need 125 for one of my charts and that seems to consistently trigger the 'Error on loading chart data for ES 03-14' ...

Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
125 days of second data is going to be a large amount of historical data to request and is likely the reason you are receiving the error message.
If you request this amount of data after market hours, are you able to receive the data successfully?Ryan L.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Have not tried the after-market hours approach, I guess I can later today, but i'm using a pretty robust indicator set (Apex) that requires a big data load that doesn't seem to be a problem for other users. Have you got any other ideas how I can clear this error and get the chart to load?

Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
Since you are connecting to IQFeed, you can troubleshoot the historical data download by clearing your cache folder and requesting a new set of data:
Please use the steps I have provided below to delete your cached chart data:
- Close NinjaTrader
- Documents
- NinjaTrader 7
- Open the db folder
- Delete the Cache folder
- Restart NinjaTrader
- Connect
