Sending a trade signal every 5 seconds

Is it possible to send a trading signal every 5 seconds to IB, as part of a automated trading strategy? If so, do you have any examples to provide?

N.Lapo, thanks for the post, generally that would be possible, either based on a 5 second chart or by running a strictly time based timer signal via a script for example. I'm just not sure I understand what you want to create here, so would be helpful if you could clarify a bit more for us. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
The idea is simply to send every x seconds a buy or sell signal between let's say 8:00:00 and 8:00:30 (8am and 30 secs).

Thanks, yes generally that would be feasible. However if you work based on the bars (counting for example 1 second bars, or acting on a new 5 second bar) you would need to keep in mind that a trade has to happen in our event based framework to create new bars if time conditions warrant so. So even if time conditons would call for a new bar to be created, when no tick is seen then NT would not create a new bar for you. If you seek to strictly work on a time based event then a timer could be helping here.

N.Lapo, yes that would be possible if you have access to tick data from your broker / technology provider connected in NT. You can for example just type 5S on your chart to change to a 5 second chart.
