Range Chart - Incorrect Bar

Hello,

I use range bar charts. The charts work fine for the most part. New bar is only formed when the price breaks the range specified. However, every day when CME market closes, the chart forms a new bar which most often falls within previous bar range. This issue only happens around market closing, never during any other time. The instrument I use is ES.

Is there a setting that I can use to prevent this from happening?

Hello RedDuke,

Unfortunately this is as expected as per our range bars. The last candle of each session can have a smaller range. It is cut off at the end of the session.

This is to ensure historical data does not change the next day. If the range bars were continuous and not cut off at the end of the session, historical data will be different each day.

There is a custom bar type on our forum that will plot range bars that do not reset. You can find it at the link below.

Thanks for this info. I will take a look at that custom chart type. Would need to test it for a while before I can let it handle my strategies.
