Can I use Market Replay to save chart data as historical Data?

I think the answer is 'no' - but want to confirm
If I check tools/options/data/save chart data as historical
and then run market replay for an instrument -

Since the data is showing up in the chart - will it be saved as historical data?
(I have tested this and the answer looks like its 'no')

You are correct, this is not possible. That is because standard historical data and market replay data are independent of each other, and saved as different file types on your PC.

So then how does 'Save Chart Data as Historical' operate?
I was thinking that whatever gets displayed in a chart (real time or market replay) would be stored as historical data

This will save incoming real-time chart data as historical. This feature is useful when connected to a data provider that does not supply historical data.
