IB requiring version 940 or higher of TWS API after 5/1

IB just sent an email saying that version 940 or higher of TWS is required after 5/1. What is Ninja trader going to do about this?

Thanks for your post.

Yesterday Interactive Brokers has informed us they will no longer be supporting Traders Workstation versions older than 940. We are currently working with Interactive Brokers for a resolution however at this time you will still want to be using version 938.1
We will update you with additional information once available.

This is very important! Please expedite. Just for information's sake I'm using ver. 939.3 (Aug. 2013). It works beautifully in every way but, of course, it's obsolete as of 5/1.

I think a situation like this is when being able to run that paper-trading setup in a fully functional installation on a completely separate PC would have helped users test functionality of an upgrade without impacting their main setup.

Do nothing at this time. Wait for some kind of corporate resolution? Or upgrade like IB wants. If they make it difficult, I'll go somewhere else. DB

At this time you will not want to upgrade from 938.1
Currently 938.1 is still supported by Interactive Brokers and this is the version NinjaTrader is currently designed to work with.
This is a high priority item for our development team and we will let you know when you can upgrade and to what version.
At this time we have been unable to confirm if 938.1 will just no longer be supported but still function or if connections with it will be disabled. We are currently looking into supporting a newer version.

"Effective May 1, 2014, TWS versions below 940.0 will no longer be operable for API use" sounds pretty terminal to me.

I would have thought that communication from IB to 3rd party vendors should have given a little more warnings, sigh.... I realize this has probably been sprung on NT just as much as everyone else.

httpcore-4.3.jar
httpclient-4.3.jar
Please make you run the application from the shortcut that was installed on your desktop or on the Start menu when you upgraded.
The application will now terminate"

Is this error related to the IB upgrade?

I get this message when I run IBcontroller to start TWS 944. If you start TWS from its own shortcut, no problems.
