Newly coded indicators not visible

HI everyone

Usually when I'm working on one of my own indicators, I can 'Save As' and the new indicator is instantly visible in 'Indicators' on any chart.

What happened just now is that the new indicator's name was not visible in 'Indicators' until I had closed down NT then reopened the program.

This has happened a few times before but usually there's no problem. Does anyone understand what may be happening here?

Thanks for your post.

Can you replicate this if after selecting Save As your right click on the indicator code and select Compile?
Do you have an anti virus/firewall installed and if so which one? (example: Norton, AVG, Avast)
Do you have a backup or auto backup program running on your computer?

Thanks very much for your prompt reply. You hit the nail on the head!

A 'Saved As' indicator needs to be compiled before it will appear in the list. I've done a couple of tests and this is always the case.

Maybe immediately after 'Save As', an asterisk should appear reminding the user always to compile?

Of course, after 'Save As', there's usually some coding to be done (that's almost always the point of doing it) but still there may be some reason not to add any code and this problem will arise.
