Forex pair point value

Hello NT,
How do you reach the point value for a currency pair such as EURJPY as 1000 and EURUSD as 100000?

Hello binwang2,

This is due to the pair containing the Japanese Yen.

Any Forex pair with the Japanese Yen will have a point value of 1000 while all other pairs have a point value of 100000.

I am not sure if this is a correct statement. For example, if you use a point value of 100000 for EURHUF you will be way off. It is more closer to a point value of 1 in order to make it work. Can somebody confirm this as well as tick size and point values for all pairs for forex?

Hello retrofx,

To receive the correct conversion rate for none USD pairs, you will need to plot the USD pairs.

For example, to get the rate for the EURHUF, you will need to be receiving data for the EURUSD and the USDHUF.

The problem exists even with "USD" pairs. For example, using Kinetick and FXCM Live accounts trading 10,000 units of USDDKK in reality has a pip value of approximately $0.18. When backtesting the USDDKK the results use a pip value of approximately $1.00. The same error occurs in other USD pair such as USDSEK.
