Historical data with IB

Hi,
I am new to ninjatrader.
I wa connected to my IB account and I tried to chart some stocks but I can see only data (daily chart) from 2013. Is there any setting to change?

You have a "Days to Load" setting in your Data Series to consider, but IB also does not provide a lot of historical data to begin with, which is most likely the problem you're having there.

I use another charting service to import the data in NT's database and from there just keep up to date via IB.

using a data provider to load all historical data and then keep the data up to date with ib

for example can ik pay for only 1 month of kinitick do download all data and after that use ib to update, how does this updating happen?

also where does this data get stored on my pc

how to update tickdata for rangebars in this way, i read that ib does not allow you to access historical tickdata.

Hey guys,

I have Worden Telechart service as well, which has stock-prices all the way back.

It has an export button but does not export it exactly as how NT requires it for import, so once i export the fields required for NT.

I use notepad to replace the comma's that Telechart uses to separate the fields and "replace all' with semi-colons.

Then rename the text file to 'SYM.Last' and it is set for import to NT as per NT's help guide link above.

I only import daily price data myself.

I believe most folks here would tell you to do it with a free service like Yahoo or something. I've seen it around but have never looked into it myself. I don't know anything about that option.

Hi Steve, just to understand, once you have uploaded the historical data for a stock they are saved in the NT server. What's happen then when you connect to IB?

Then, I would have the same result downloading historical day prices using Kinetick and then connecting to IB for real time?

the historical prices are saved in on your side, within NT program.

Yes from there,when you connect to IB and request XXX days of data to load, as i understand it NT uses the historical prices where available, then loads the rest from IB -assuming IB has it, which they will if it is recent enough.

Using Kinetic, yes i assume the same deal applies.

Save Chart Data As Historical, box checked as well.

Hey I get around a bit here and there, but I am no expert with this so more or less what I am telling will work just fine but the details may be a bit off depending on your circumstances using vendors i have never used.

Many thanks, I will go around too trying to understand as much as pox, at the moment I got downloading historical prices of the SP500 from kinetick, I am trying to add new stocks now.... let's see
