should I always download it, ignore it, download it only if I'm having problems with my installed version, etc?

no 64 exe ?

I downloaded the newest version 22.
Where did the ninjatrader7 X64 .exe go to ?

The Ninjatrader.exe inside C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7\bin\X64
doesnt work at all

You will find that file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7\bin64 folder.

Thank you for the update.

It could be that your 64-bit folder did not get fully updated.

Please perform an uninstall -> Reinstall

1. Close all running applications.
2. Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs.
3. From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 7 and click Remove.
4. Once these steps are completed, download NT7 from the link below:
