    Bar spacing - Chart 1-tick

    I come from Multicharts.

I am learning to use NinjaTrader, and so far I really enjoy.

There is only one thing that I am wondering: charts compression.

Usually, I use tick charts... I know that in Ninja I can adjust bar spacing on the toolbar, or keyboard Ctrl-ArrowUp/Ctrl-ArrowDown... well, is it possible to set custom bar spacing?
    I need more squeezing.
For example below a EuroBund chart 1-tick, i'd love to see less space between ticks.

    IMO the chart is unusable.

I have to transform in 20-ticks charts, to use it. See below:

    Hello,

Thanks for the forum post and glad to hear you are trying out NinjaTrader!

NinjaTrader will only ever be able to compress the chart so far, there must always be at least 1 pixel between bars. We won't ever overlap bar data in our charts.

You can set a custom bar width h by going to Right Click -> Data Series -> Bar Width and reducing to 1 but once you get that small it is unfortunately as small as you can go with NinjaTrader as we always keep a true chart and do not do any type of operation that would skew its rendering.

In order to see more on the chart you would need to use a larger time period unfortunately.

      Thanks Brett for your reply.

I understand what you say, but in my opinion this is a little problem.

Some my indicators works using all prices, and only in a tick chart they can calculate propely the signals.

So, in NT I can sure create a chart tick by tick, but visually is unusable.

In order to be usable, the chart should be able to reduce the distance between the bars below 1 pixel... Multicharts can do it. For the rest Ninja is a great software.

        Hello,

Understood, my only suggestion would be that you can create an Indicator in NinjaTrader that is MTF(Multi-Time-Frame) and runs on a 1 tick underlying data series and would plot on a higher time frame chart you would view.

However this would take custom NinjaScript programming to create these MTF indicators. Let me know if you wanted me to guide you our help information on how to go about doing that or I could guide you to one of our NinjaScript consultants that could create such an indicator for you.

Thanks for your help, sounds good.

last week I rewrote my indicators from Multicharts to Ninja. Seem to work well and fast.

To make what you suggest me, i need an example just for one.

The fastest way to learn to use the MTF, is read the code.

If you have a NinjaScript consultant that can help me, in my opinion is the best way.

The indicator is done, finished, I need only the rows of code to calculate a 1-tick array and plot it on a 20-tick chart.

            Hello,

Thanks for your patience your thread fell through the cracks and was my mistake I apologize.

Please see these information on creating a multi time frame script:

We have an example in the product, it is a strategy called SampleMultiTimeFrame the concepts apply to an indicator as well.

Finally we do have our consultants listed on this page: http://www.ninjatrader.com/Ecosystem/NonBroker.php#81

Let me know if any other questions.
