    Unhandled Exception

When I go to add a new Strategy in the Strategies tab, modify the instrument and select "Stock" in the dropdown, a window pops up saying:

    New Strategy

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that memory is corrupt.

    Under Details I see:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** Exception Text **************
System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Should I worry? When I click "OK", I have problems running my strategy but I don't know whether it is related to this error or is something I'm doing.

Hmm .. please make sure you are on latest 6.5.0.10 or 6.0.1000.10.

I was on 6.0.1000.9 and I just upgraded to .10 and the same problem is present. I tried using different data sources, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Then your .NET 2.0 installation is screwed up. Please:
        - uninstall NT
        - uninstall .NET 2.0 via control panel
        - clear your browser cache
        - install .NET 2.0 from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
        - install NT again

Oh dear. I've got some very bad memories of reinstalling .NET. Time for a full backup before I try that again.

          Thanks for your help.

Although backup always makes sense, there is no particular need for in this situation, since procedure below will maintain your data.

              Heh, such is the theory.

In practice however, the .NET framework seems tightly integrated into Windows so it can have big repercussions. I've had to reinstall .NET a few times over the years, and on two occasions my windows install got so badly damaged that I had to reinstall. I was able to salvage most of my data, but all of my settings got damaged.

Since then, I won't touch a service pack or .NET changes without precautions
