Live Trading and negative displacemment

If i use negative displacement for an indicator, how does that affect live trading? Backtesting shows great results, but is it delayed when live trading?

Hi Ericson,

Thank you for you note.

Displacement is defined as the offset for the indicator plot values. Using a negative value will shift the values of the plot to the left. Using a positive value will shift the plot values to the right.

There should be no difference with live trading as this is only offsetting the plot values.

So it just changes the plotting and not the values? Say i use a -1 displacement, what value is used? The chart is shifted to the right and there is a missing bar.

Say i do live trading, is there an additional bar delay from the -1 displacement.

How do i use 1 bar ago from current bar without displacing?

The displacement will affect the placement of the plot values.

What is the overall goal you are trying to accomplish with displacing the values?
