    not so sweet sugar contract

What's up with Sugar? why is the latest contract I can find the (recently expired) one for October, 2013?
For those of you who are new to this (and that would include me), in order to find what contracts are available for a given futures contract, you do the following:
    start at the control center
    left click on Tools
    left click on Instrument Manger
type in a symbol, if you know it, or a description, so for example, "Sugar"
    click on the Search button
single left click on the symbol you want to look up
    click on Edit
when the "Instrument "Editor" panel comes up, click on the tab "Misc" at the top
scroll down to the very bottom
click on the very lowest line, "Contract months" and a little tab with three dots will appear in the very righthand side
FINALLY you've gotten to the place where all the available contract months are listed.
    Whew.
So, if you play this game for sugar, SB, you'll see that the contract at the very top, the latest one, is 10-13, i.e. October 2013. Nothing later than that. Hey, it's already expired!
Play the same game with ZW, wheat, and you'll see 12-13. December 2013.
Still, there's something weird about this, because many people will be trading wheat futures contracts well into 2014. Doesn't seem like you can do that on Ninjatrader...........
clearly, there has to be something I'm not understanding here, because surely NT will, should, must, let you trade contracts further out than the Dec contract of this year!!!

So, whoever understands this, please explain!
    Thanks,
    Tasuki

    Hello Tasuki,

    Thanks for your post.

Newer expiry rollover dates are included with updated versions of NinjaTrader.

To get these newer rollover dates please update to the latest version of NinjaTrader.

    To update your NinjaTrader platform:
    • Copy your license key to a text file. You can find this under Help -> License Key
    • Use the following link to get to the NinjaTrader download page: Download
    • Enter your license from the text file into the Current Users field, and download NinjaTrader
    • Before running the installer ensure NinjaTrader is closed
    • Install the newest NinjaTrader

After updating you will need to reset Instruments:
    • Click Tools -> Options... -> select the Data tab
    • Click the Reset Instruments button
    • Restart NinjaTrader

Please let me know if this does not resolve your inquiry.

Thanks, Chelsea. I already had the latest version installed, but I didn't know about those extra steps. Your instructions did the trick. Thanks!
BTW, you REALLY should simplify this process for futures releases of NT!

        Hello Tasuki,

I agree :-). This has been suggested to our development department and I will be adding your vote toward the matter.

Thank you for your feed back!
