Ninja/Zen-Fire and brokers

I would appreciate some clarification on how NT interacts with Zen-Fire and the role of the brokers. Is Zen-Fire strictly a data feed or is Zen-Fire also involved in the execution of trades? If ZF is strictly a data feed then might trade execution speed differ among which brokers are being used? I want to use the NT/ZF combo but I also want to get the best trade execution speed and reliability possible. Basically, I want to understand the interaction between NT, ZF, and the broker and what functions they all play in the system reliability and trade execution.

The Zen-Fire solution is identical from a technology perspective (same software, hardware, network, internet lines etc...) across any brokers that offer it. The role the broker plays is in the level/quality of service you will receive as a client.
