How to Stop Loading Data operation when Connection is Lost

I went to load more data and when it took too long, I found on the hidden Control Center panel, that the connection was lost. So it is stuck.

    1. I don't understand why it would start the process to get data if the connection is lost.
    2. Why isn't there a way to cancel the operation after I realized the connection was lost.

Is the only way to get out of this situation to "Kill" the process?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

Just to be sure that I understand the issue, when you looked at the Control Center you saw the 'Disconnected - **name of your data provider**' reported or the 'Connected' box appeared in a color which was not green?

      Yes Kyle,

      That is correct.

        Taddypole,

        Thank you for clarifying.

NinjaTrader would essentially try any data request regardless of connection state on the chance that data is available locally.

Depending on what point the loading process gets to, you may see a 'Cancel' button on the lower right side of the Control Center where you would see data download notifications. If this button is available, selecting it would cancel the data request. If the button is not present NinjaTrader would need to be restarted as you've outlined.

This is strange. If I look at Task Manager, Ninja Trader is still running with no "Not Responding" message.

There is no Cancel message at the bottom of the Control Center.
The Data Series window is open but as no Ninja Trader Windows are accessible (since they are frozen) there is no way to cancel the data request even if it was available.

This seems to be an inelegant design. Hopefully in the new version, this will not be a problem. It should be fixed.

          Regards,
