saving tick and minute data as historical

Hello,

I'd like to create a workspace to record market data for the softs (since they are not recorded on NT's historical servers), and need both tick and minute data. If I run a tick chart for each instrument with the "save chart data as historical" option selected, and then decide to look at a minute chart of one of those instruments, will NT build minute data from the tick data?

My understanding is "no," and that my options are:

1. Have both a tick and minute chart in the workspace that is set up to record data.

or

2. Export tick data, and reimport it as minute data.

Is that correct?

Thank you for your post.

Your understanding is correct - minute and tick data are separate items. You would need to run a tick and minute chart in real-time with the 'Save chart data as historical' option enabled to access both tick and minute data. Alternately, you could export tick data then re-import with the 'create minute data' option checked.
