How to Setup an alert?

Hi

Is there any easy way to setup a price alert on a single instrument so that if price is approaching a certain predefined level I will get warned?

Welcome to the NinjaTrader Support Forums!

You can set a sound alert using the PriceAlert indicator that comes preconfigured with NinjaTrader 7. You can find this by right click on a chart--> selecting indicators--> locating the "PriceAlert" indicator--> press "New" to add it to your list of applied indicators.

From the indicator properties in the right panel, you can set the "Price" value which will trigger a "door bell" alert by default once price has reached your predefined level.

Thanks for your answer.

However, there is an issue about an alert from the indicator list. They don't work when chart windows are closed. I need to scan about 40 instruments, so that on each one of them is set up a different price level. It is rather difficult to have opened 40 charts simultaneously . As far as I understand it, I can set up an alert on a market analyser but doing so one price level applies to all instruments. What else can I do?

petersen82, you are correct in understanding the limitations involved in setting this up - would this be a varying selection of instruments you follow?

I'm not sure if you're a programmer or interested in diving into this area, but a custom indicator that would monitor the price of all those symbols and support a custom input per instrument would be an efficient choice then, the series would be added internally so one chart would be enough or attaching it to the Market Analyzer.

I am far from being a programmer, neither I am interested in diving into this area. just need a simple way to set up alerts.

Ok, understood just wanted to outline a potential alternative for you. Then at this time I would suggest working off the individual charts with the Price Alert study.

Correct, that would need to be done then through the Market Analyzer where you would have one price for all your price alerts as it would be specific per column.
