    charttrader - scale out

    Hello,

I couldn´t find a answer for scaling out in charttrader (scale out discretionary, with buttons, not with targets) EG when going short with 3 contracts how can I scale out 1 after one with a button?

    Thanks
    Tony

    Hello tonynt,

If you are in a short position, to scale out a quantity of one, change the quantity to 1 and press the buy market button.

      Hello Chelsea,

thank you for your reply. This I know of course. If you are trading you will dmit that this is not a good think to do this way in live trading.

I thought there is some other possibility to to with less clicks and over all to avoid filling in some numbers - this takes time and also there can be errors.

      Thanks for your reply.

      Best
      Tony

        Hello tonynt,

Once the quantity is set, scaling out should only take one click on market button on the opposite side of the market.

Other than placing an order in the opposite direction I am not aware of any other way to scale out of an order.

          Scale outs

Is this scaling procedure still the best NT can do? It's very distracting and dangerous in a fast market to be changing the quantities in a trading window while in a position. It's way to easy to make a mistake and leave part of a position open, or to go too far and end up taking the opposite side of a trade by accident.
Then you have to remember to change the quantity back to your default before the next position is taken. All this while watching the charts and trying to make trade decisions?

            Hello NTTrader33,
            Thanks for your post.
if you always scale in/out with the same qty you can right click on your order entry window (SuperDOM, Chart) and select Properties
Under Scale Quantity enter the desired value
