Ninjatrader and Flash Drive

Is it possible to run Ninjatrader from a flash drive, and if so, would it be faster than if on a regular hard drive?

You mean a ssd hard drive? Yes, of course. Faster? Probably some. The connection type matters a lot.

If you are talking thumbnail drive over usb2, thatd be super slow.

Usb3 might work, but then NT wants to store stuff on c:, and you'd have to link elsewhere.

Thank you for your note.

It is possible to install NinjaTrader to a flash drive. However NinjaTrader installs to two locations

C:\Program Files for the core application (you can change this folder during installation)

And also installs to My Documents\NinjaTrader 7 where custom settings, indicators, etc. are installed (you cannot change this folder)


Regarding if this will provide any speed benefits, this may only provide minor speed improvements because it would still need to read from the My Documents folder.
