Period Settings

I am using a "Broker" version of NT7 (similar I think to the "Free" version) and when I go to the period drop-down on the chart bar the shortest period is 1 minute. If I right-click within the body of the chart, access Data Series and go to Period, there are a number of options. However if for example I select a 30 second period and click "Apply" the chart comes up blank. A similar thing happens when volume, tick , range are selected. Am I missing something (won't be the first time) or does it mean I have to 'own' or 'lease' NT7 to get this functionality?

Thanks for your help. For wharever reasons, the damn thing seems to be working now and I'm not sure what I've done differently. Let me see if I can figure it out and I'll get back to you when I do.
