compilation results in error ?????

all of a sudden indicator [call it "indicator xxxx"] compilation results in error
"The namespace 'NinjaTraderIndicator' already contains a definition for 'xxxx' "

I am guessing, and hoping, that all I need do is somehow do some housekeeping on the namespace. Please give me some direction about what to do because I don't have a clue about what is going on.

Sounds like you defined some stuff in the Global namespace.

1. Go through all the files that you wrote, find where you have the clash,
2. Resolve it by deleting all but one definition, and then
3. Consider not polluting the Global namespace anymore.

I don't understand a word of your response but I will work on it because it is the best advise I have so far. not only will I consider not polluting the Global namespace, I will consider not making any mistakes anymore... anywhere, anytime. wish I had been the recipient of that wisdom earlier in life.

Thank you for your post.

It is likely a file that is named the same as another or there is a copy of a file in the (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom folder in either the Custom folder itself, the Indicator folder, Strategy folder or possibly Type or Market Analyzer.

Run through these directories to ensure you have no conflicts.

you nailed it dead center Patrick [ie] "there is a copy of a file in the (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom folder"

turns out I am the one who saved it there [too smart by half] thinking that there would be no problem because it [obviously] had a different name.
