    Platform not responding

    I went through a process of deleting all my historical data from the Historical data manager as I run NT7 on a VPS and the historical data was taking up too much disk space. After deleting the data I restarted NT7 but now it goes to a Not Responding state shortly after the control panel appears. Basically the previously saved charts for the workspace will not start. Do you any recommendations on how I can get the platform up and running?

    Hello ahagger,

    Can you please shut down NinjaTrader and navigate to the folder below.

    C:\-->Users-->*Windows user account*-->Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->workspaces

    Delete the _workspaces.xml file. This will not delete your workspaces, but ensures no workspaces will be opened on startup.

    Start NinjaTrader and check if you can open the workspace at Control Center-->File-->Workspaces-->Open Workspace.

          Hello laredo,

          Can you please send me your log and trace files, so I can investigate. Go to Control Center-->Help-->Mail to Support in NinjaTrader. Put 'Att Jason, Platform not responding' in the subject field and enable 'Log and trace files'.

                I sent you the response below, but I have not received an answer so far.

                Hello laredo,

                Thank you for sending files.

                Unfortunately only two log files are attached. Could you please send me your trace file as well.

                C:\-->Users-->*Windows user account*-->(My) Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Trace--> trace.20130613 for today. (trace.yyyymmdd for any other date)

                If the file is larger than 4 MB, please zip the file first. Right click the file and select Send to-->Compressed (zipped) folder. Subsequently attach the .zip file in your email.

                      Hello laredo,

                      Upon trading the sim101 account, orders will execute as per the simulator fill engine, see the link below. The order does not have to execute right away when the market meets the order price.

                      NinjaTrader provides a state of the art internal simulation engine that can be used to test trading ideas and hone your skills. The simulation engine is not a simple algorithm that fills your order once the market trades at your order price. The engine uses a scientific approach to determine fill probability by including a number of variables including: ask/bid volume, trade volume, time (to simulate order queue position), and random time delays for switching between order states.

                      You can enable 'Enforce immediate fills' at Control Center-->Tools-->Options-->Simulator-tab. Subsequently orders will execute much quicker.

                      Do you receive realtime data in the minute chart? If so, can you please shut down NinjaTrader and synch your PC clock.

                      You can sync your PC clock by double clicking on the clock in the lower right corner of your desktop. Press 'Change time zone...' Set the Time zone and press 'OK'.

                      Once you have done that, click on Internet Time tab set the server to time.nist.gov and then click Update. Your PC clock should now be synched.

                      Start NinjaTrader and check if the issue remains.

                          The 'Change time zone' button could be listed in the Date and Time-tab as well.
