    computer time synch lost - the Twitter hack ?

    this thread isn't related to NinjaTrader directly and I don't see any threads related to
    it but the hack imo was a serious matter

    did the NinjaTrader service have any problems ? or any of the feeds ? any users ?

    I noticed about at 11:55 am pst Tuesday morning my computer time was off
    I've used Dimension 4 for years but trying to synch at Any other server than the one
    I was using got the same msg, 'can't connect to server'
    downloaded another syncher but that couldn't connect to its server, then about one
    hour later I re-installed D4 and the synch worked ok

    what exactly was the Twitter hack ?
    just how much of the net etc infrastructure did it hit since All the time synch servers
    were out World Wide
    why would the time synch servers go down ?
    was it a single hack ?
    didn't have any chart/order entry programs open at the time but others on the EliteTrader
    forums reported various problems

    I'm not aware of any specific issues related to this. Could you provide the full message from the error you mentioned seeing at the time? Were you syncing with an internet time server or connecting to your brokerage?

      judging by the small number of thread views and no replies this was a non event
      for NT users

      perhaps Kyle I'm incorrectly associating the problem I experienced with the hack

      the two attacks yesterday were 1: Twitter was hacked 2: the false message that the
      Whitehouse had been bombed and the President injured which caused the mini
      crash in the ES
      however as said a number of members at ET reported various problems such as
      not being able to logon to their broker - IB and Schwab as well as not being able
      to enter orders or orders hanging, and my similar thread on ET has only had one
      other person stating they'd also lost their computer time synch

      what got me was the problem went beyond the Twitter hack, was it the same hack
      or something in addition to have affected brokers and if the same source, the time
      synch problem which in my case was knocked out and as said didn't come back
      on for over an hour. this could I suppose have been the result of measures being
      taken against the hack, don't know what, but it's the fact that what happened app-
      ears to have been far more widespread than the Twitter hack alone
      there's no news in the general media besides the hack relating to the other prob-
      lems I'm also associating with the hack, so maybe the other stuff's just a coinci-
      dence

        In the message, please include the following:
        1.) A link to this forum thread.
        2.) A copy of your trace file from the 23rd of April:
        You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
        • The trace file will be named "trace.20130423.txt"
